Delta by position

Predictive lap time

Most deltas compare sector times, so they update a few times per lap. This one compares your lap against the reference by position on track. Reference time plus live delta gives your finishing time before the line.

How it works

Each lap is recorded as a 3D trajectory, resampled to a uniform 5 m arc length with a spline that maps distance to time.
Every frame, the car's position is projected onto that line by a KDTree segment search. The delta is the lap clock minus the spline time at that point.
Off track, progress is dead-reckoned so the delta keeps counting, but dirty, partial or implausibly fast laps never become references.
Previous and fastest lap are kept side by side, switchable mid-lap. Predicted time is reference time plus live delta, on one clock, so it cannot drift.

Measured burn

Fuel strategy

A fuel gauge shows what is left in the tank, not how far it gets you. This instrument cluster measures what a lap really costs and averages your last clean laps, so you always see the laps you have left. Pitting becomes a decision instead of a guess.

How it works

Lap boundaries come from the game's lap clock resetting. Each completed lap banks its measured burn into a rolling three-lap window.
Laps remaining is the current fuel level divided by the window's average. The live lap readout refreshes on a 3-second sample and hold.
A rising fuel level means a pit refuel, and that lap is discarded. Out-laps, grid segments and restarts never produce a sample.
Near-zero burn means fuel use is disabled and the estimate returns to --.-. The readout turns amber under three laps of range, red under one.

Torque crossover

Shift lights

Most shift lights blink at one fixed RPM, the same in every gear. This instrument cluster models your engine’s torque curve and finds the RPM where the next gear pulls harder. The lights pace themselves to that point, gear by gear.

how it works

How it works

An engine model rebuilds the torque curve from peak power, peak torque and redline. Wheel torque is that curve multiplied by the gear ratio.
For every gear, the calculator finds the crossover where the next gear delivers more wheel torque. That RPM becomes the shift point.
Gear ratios are read from live telemetry, so a setup change recomputes every shift point on the spot.
The LED window is about 1600 RPM wide and scaled per gear. Median-filtered RPM and Schmitt-trigger hysteresis keep the bar from flickering.

From parts to grid.

Assemble it with just four parts in four simple steps.

Board computer

Any official Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 works. Built-in Wi-Fi and 1 GB of RAM is plenty. Make sure to use the dedicated power supply. We also recommend using an active fan.

7" Display

The official Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 with 720p resolution and five-finger touch. The board computer clips straight onto its back. Connect the ribbon and power cables and you are done.

RGB LEDs

The Pimoroni Blinkt! features eight LEDs that connect to the GPIO header and become physical shift lights, filling in pairs toward the shift point. Skip it if you only want the display.

microSD card

Use Raspberry Pi Imager to flash the prebuilt OS image to a microSD card.
